C.MacKinnon = A.Dworkin's"Pornography and Sex Discrimination"(Aoki Syoten, 2900 yen) was published.
……By adopting a sex equality law providing civil relief against pornography's harms, Japan could take a stand against the pimps who profit at the expense of the less powerful and remove a major barrier to equality of the sexes. In so doing, it would become a global leader of principle and a beacon of hope for women everywhere.(From MacKinnon's Preface to Japanese version) Two authors of this book, Andrea Dworkin and Catherine MacKinnon are feminists who are always remarkable by their radical thoughts and activities and have earned great respects in the U.S. society, therefore, who have been most feared from dominant men. Dworkin is a feminist writer who has grappled with problems of violence against women and pornography since early years of 1970s, and MacKinnon is a feminist jurist who has been engaged in court struggles and legislation activities about sexual harassment since middle of 1970s. In this book, they explain the meanings and purposes of the "Anti-Pornography Civil Rights Ordinance" which they have tried to enact since early years of 1980s to give remedies to victims of pornography. This book was published by an anti-pornography group in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where the two feminists had made their first attempt to pass the Ordinance.
